Property offences such as burglary and theft seem to be on the rise against since recent times.

Those were the words of Lautoka High court Judge Justice Rangajeeva Wimalasena while handing down the sentence to two men convicted of one count each of aggravated burglary.

35-year-old Arikeleo Toga and 24 –year- old Sakiusa Navakadretia stole over ten thousand dollars’ worth of items from a shop in Lovu Lautoka last year.

Justice Wimalasena said these offences are prevalent in the society and the items stolen were of substantial value.
Toga has five previous convictions while Navakadretia is a first offender.

The two have been sentenced to 17 months imprisonment with a non-parole period of 11 months.
