A weeklong celebration to commemorate the sacrifice of our Peacekeepers who served in UN mission four decades ago ended with a parade in Suva today.

The President says the weeklong celebrations held around the country has made more Fijians aware of the hard work our peacekeepers do overseas.

The president also commended the sacrifices of our Fijian peacekeepers and also acknowledged the support from their families.

Since 1978, Fiji has sent hundreds of its Defence personnel to various UN peacekeeping missions.

Altogether, Fiji currently maintains eight active missions abroad.
