The Suva High Court will hand down its sentence to thirty-five-year-old Rozleen Razia Khan found guilty of one count of murder – in the next hour.

Khan was convicted of murdering her own child on Tuesday after a four-day trial.

Judge Justice Vincent Perera heard submissions on sentencing yesterday from the prosecutors and defense counsel.

Rozleen Razia Khan drowned her four-year-old daughter by jumping into the Rewa River near Kasavu, Nausori on May 6th last year.

Khan said during the trial that she was in an abusive relationship with her husband and did not know what she was doing when she jumped into the river.

She will be sentenced at 2.30pm.
