International law firm Ashurst provided legal advice to the Fiji National Provident Fund Board (FNPF) on its acquisition of 20% shares in Energy Fiji Limited (EFL).

The law firm states on its website that the Fijian energy market is undergoing significant change in terms of regulation and this acquisition allows FNPF to benefit from the increased certainty associated with these changes.

It adds that this is one of only a few previous privatization transactions in Fiji.
