WG Plaza developers await lifting of stop work order

August 29, 2019 12:45 pm

Developers of the WG Friendship Plaza are determined to continue with construction work once the stop-work order is lifted.

WG Friendship Plaza is based at McGregor Road in Suva.

Acting Chief Executive, Ron Ding says the only work carried out at the site now is the removal of its retaining wall which is encroaching into the property of Holy Trinity Anglican School.

Ding claims they have sort permission for this work from the Suva City Council.

He adds they’re trying their best to resolve the matter with relevant authorities so that the Plaza is completed by the end of next year.

“After we uplift the stop-work order – we will return to work very quickly and we have already prepared the materials such as the glass wall and the interior decoration materials. So I think if we try our best we can finish it on time.”

He says they’re still in the process of negotiating with the management of Holy Trinity Anglican School.

Locals have been employed to work on demolishing the encroached area.

Work on the thirty-story building was halted in June for breaking boundary laws.

Meanwhile, the SCC is yet to comment on the matter following several attempts by FBC News.
