Minister and Defense Minister Richard Marles at the Pentagon to talk about security and defense in the Indo-Pacific.
He says the U.S. and Australia have a strong bond, thanks to President Donald Trump’s leadership.
Marles agreed and said Australia is helping the U.S. with its industry.
Before the meeting, Australia made its first $500 million payment for the AUKUS nuclear submarine deal.
Australia plans to double its defense budget to A$100 billion ($63 billion) in the next 10 years.
The U.S. also has a $32 billion trade surplus with Australia.
