In a historical move for Fijian rugby, fans will now get the opportunity to watch all the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua matches for free.

All the Fijian Drua’s matches at the Super Rugby Pacific from next month will be aired free-to-air on FBC Sports on the Walesi platform as well other final matches.

This was announced earlier today by Drua Interim Chief Executive Brian Thorburn, confirming the broadcast deals with FBC TV and Sky Pacific for two seasons of Super Rugby Pacific.

Fijian Broadcasting Corporation Chief Executive, Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says this is an amazing victory for Fiji and for Fijians who will be able to enjoy free coverage of the Fijian Drua side.

“To be able to transmit live and free now on the Walesi platform a lot of Fijians were not able to watch television before will be able to see this this year. It’s an amazing opportunity, great for rugby- great for the development of rugby in Fiji and it’s great for all Fijians”.

Thorburn says the Drua will be able to run on the field knowing their families and fans are watching.

He adds the partnership is a win for rugby in Fiji as the love and support for the sport continues to grow.

“The fantastic thing about that is every Fijian connected through Walesi will be able to watch the Drua from the 18th of February onwards, every weekend, there’s 14 rounds and I know that the Fijian rugby fans will be completely behind the Drua and will be watching their performances every week, see how they go on the ladder”.

Fijian fans will also be able to watch the entire season with its 91 matches live on Sky Pacific’s pay service.

Digicel Fiji Chief executive, Farid Mohammed says the Super Rugby Pacific will be exciting as the Moana Pasifika and Fijian Drua add taste to the viewers in Fiji.

Fijians can tune in to FBC TV on the 18th of February to watch the Fijian Drua take on the Waratahs in their first outing.

The Drua are expected to announce their final three players to complete the final 40-member squad in the coming days.
