One of the Pacific’s premier golfing events has concluded in style, with the Sheraton Golf Classic marking another successful edition of the tournament at its presentation night yesterday.

More than 200 international golfers took part in the week-long competition, which featured professionals, amateurs, and women golfers.

Now in its 14th edition, the tournament continues to grow in stature, with organisers highlighting its role in promoting competitive golf and fostering international participation in the Pacific.

The presentation night brought the week’s action to a close in a vibrant ceremony, celebrating this year’s standout performers while players and guests enjoyed an evening of entertainment, music, and festivities.

Among the highlights was professional New Zealand golfer Josh Geary, who claimed the Best Gross title.

Geary described the tournament as a welcome break from the New Zealand winter, while also valuing the chance to reconnect with familiar faces and compete in a long-standing event he has been part of for years.

“I’ve been here for the last 14 years. Obviously, the COVID years there was nothing on, but I’ve been coming here for a long time. I think I’ve won it once before; this is my second win, so pretty cool. I’ve got the same group up here for a long, long time, and yeah, pretty cool week.”

The event also proved memorable for first-time participants, including women’s Best Gross winner Devon Henare, who said the experience was special.

She shared that her participation in the event for the first time was made even more meaningful with her father coaching her, and attributed her win to her family’s support.

Beyond competition, the tournament also carried a wider message, with participants and organisers encouraging young people to take up sport as a way to stay active and strengthen both physical and mental wellbeing.

The Sheraton Golf Classic continues to establish itself as a key fixture on the Pacific golfing calendar, blending high-level competition with community spirit and cultural exchange.
