The Mexico City International Airport said that some airlines had decided to cancel flights after increased activity from the country’s active Popocatepetl volcano, without giving further details.

The government has a “yellow alert” out for activity from the nearby volcano, and warned on Tuesday that the column of smoke was blowing to the north-northwest and could bring ash over the capital.
