Training for Quantity Surveyors in Fiji necessary: Picken

May 10, 2018 5:07 am

Quantity Surveyors in Fiji need to undergo training’s so that they can learn about international standards of quantity surveying.

Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors Representative David Picken says many countries in the world do not have a set standard when it comes to quantity surveys and Fiji is taking a good step in providing quality training for their officers.

“At the moment, we don’t have a consistency. Some countries have their own system which are different. Some countries have no system at all. They just have an ad hoc system they use, so the idea of the International Construction Measurement System is to get some kind of consistency and transparency so that we can compare construction projects.”

He says this system aims to create a quality standard for surveyors around the globe.

Picken says surveyors will be introduced to the new International Construction Measurement System during this training.

Meanwhile, a seminar for quantity surveyors was held in Suva yesterday and attended by over sixty officers.
