More than 30 awards in 26 categories across print, radio, digital and television journalism will be up for grabs at the 2026 Fiji Achievement in Media Excellence Awards (FAME Awards) this year.

Held at the Grand Pacific Hotel, Suva, on November 28, the event is expected to draw hundreds of journalists and marketing, production and administration personnel from the country’s mainstream media organisations.

Fijian Media Association General Secretary Stanley Simpson says multimedia journalists compete hard every day for stories, audiences and attention to bring about change and accountability, but FAME brings everyone together to share the common cause of journalism.

He says it gives the industry the opportunity to recognise excellence, celebrate the people that go to lengths to keep the populace informed and enjoy a night together.

Fiji Media Council Chairperson Agatha Ferei-Furivai says the FAME Awards are an important part of strengthening standards and recognising quality across the industry.

She says accuracy, fairness, courage, creativity and service to the public remain at the heart of good journalism and FAME gives the industry the opportunity to recognise those who demonstrate these qualities and to celebrate the important role the media continues to play in Fiji.

FAME Awards Chairman Shane Hussein says work entered for the 2026 FAME Awards must have been published, printed, aired or broadcast between 1 September 2025 and 31 August 2026 through an eligible Fiji Media Council member organisation.
