Fiji Times defence counsels told to agree on article translation

Judge Justice Thusara Rajasinghe has instructed the Defence Counsel of the Fiji Times at the Suva High court this morning to agree on a correct translation of the original version of an article which was published in the Nai Lalakai on April 27th, 2016.

It’s alleged the article contained a seditious comment which was published in the Nai Lalakai- the i-taukei edition of the Fiji Times newspaper.

Justice Rajasinghe told the Defense Counsels that he will not proceed with Trial without settling this translation issue.

Its alleged Nai Lalakai article writer, Josaia Waqabaca, Editor Anare Ravula, Fiji Times Editor- in- Chief Fred Wesley, Publisher Hank Arts and the Fiji Times Limited made or caused to be published a seditious statement in the Nai Lalakai newspaper.

Hank Arts was not present in court today.

The defence counsels will meet again on the 5th of next month before the trial begins on April 30th-May 4th.
