The death of a 22-year-old woman is now being classified as murder.
Her body was found on Monday morning in bushes along Muanikau Road in Suva.
This is following the post mortem examination of Rayna Prasad of Old Namara Settlement in Khalsa Road.
She was reported missing by her father on Saturday and her body was discovered by a farmer of Korova settlement who was on his way to his plantation in that area.
Police Chief of Operations ACP Maretino Qiolevu says a team has been set up to solely investigate the death of the tertiary student.
“The post mortem has been carried out already by our pathologist. Investigation is still proceeding.”
ACP Qiolevu confirms a phone was found beside the body.
Her family had earlier confirmed that they were trying to get in touch with her on Saturday but their calls didn’t go through.
