Plans underway to televise high profile court cases

There are plans to televise some of Fiji’s high profile cases in the future.

Chief Justice Anthony Gates reveals that they will have to consider the costs before making any decision on this plan.

Gates says that to set up a big screen outside court is expensive but they will only consider cases that draws a lot of public interest.

“Well its expensive therefore we have to be careful with resources but for these cases after the elections, I think people want to know, what the case is about and what are the issues and the evidence.”

He says setting up a screen outside court is a solution to accommodate people accessing their right to see justice.
