Latisha Smythe delivered a Player of the Match performance as the Vodafone Fiji Bulikula made history, storming into the Women’s Rugby League World Cup semi-finals with a commanding 54-6 victory over France last night.

In their maiden World Cup campaign, the Bulikula have exceeded expectations, showing their attacking strength and growing confidence to secure a place among the tournament’s final four.

Smythe was instrumental in the impressive performance and says representing Fiji on the world stage is an honour she holds close to her heart.

“I am very proud to be part of this. It’s a privilege and an honour to play for my people.”

The victory marks a significant achievement for the Fijian women, who have continued to prove they belong on the world stage with every performance.

However, the challenge gets even bigger next week when they take on defending champions Australia for a place in the World Cup final.

Smythe admits the Australians will be a tough opponent but says the team is excited about the challenge and focused on building on the progress they have made throughout the tournament.

The Bulikula have already made history in their first World Cup appearance, but they now have an opportunity to create an even bigger moment for Fijian rugby league.
