The Fijian Broadcasting Corporation has joined the Maritime Silk Road Media Cooperation Platform that was launched in Guangzhou, China on December 1st.
FBC, together with local daily Fiji SUN were among the media delegates from 10 other countries that have joined the platform.
The platform has been initiated by South, Guangdong’s flagship international communication media outlet under the Nanfang Media Group.
The platform aims to boost content collaboration and storytelling across regions.
During the launch South laid out a cooperation plan which includes joint reporting, cross-country content production, and coordinated coverage of major events, cross-platform sharing, sustained strategic dialogue, and business and cultural collaboration.

FBC was represented by Manager News Ritika Pratap, Radio Fiji One Manager Nai Sorowaia and Multi-Media Journalist Meli Laddpeter.
They joined 23 other journalists on a tour of Shenzhen and Guangdong in China from November 29th to December 2nd.
The media tour provided journalists with an in-depth briefing on the province’s progress, highlighting strategic initiatives in technological innovation, large-scale infrastructure expansion, and the complete transition toward smart and sustainable agricultural models.
Once renowned for its rich fishing heritage, Guangdong has made immense progress to become a manufacturing and trade powerhouse and a vibrant modern society.
During the visit organized by South – the journalists had firsthand encounters with technological frontiers, from smart, driverless transport in Guangzhou to cutting-edge tech hubs in Shenzhen, with deep cultural exchanges.
Fiji has been benefitting from China’s Maritime Silk Road project over the year.
These include infrastructure development, economic and trade growth, sustainable and green development, health and humanitarian aid, technology as well as people to people exchange.
