An Auckland teenager was “lost in his music” and concentrating on his running when he was struck by a train and killed two years ago, a coroner has found.
Keenan Matthes was out for a run when he was hit at the Ranui Train Station yesterday morning.
Police said the 16-year-old had been wearing headphones and was unaware the train was approaching as he crossed the tracks.
Family members learned of his death after coming across the scene as they searched for him.
A number of people have posted messages on Facebook, calling him an amazing and bright person, who was gone too soon.
