Weightlifting Fiji confirmed three lifters have qualified for the Pacific Games thus far, with more expected to qualify from future trials.

Fiji’s Weightlifting vice-president Della Shaw says they will be taking fifteen players to the Pacific Games.

Weightlifting Fiji Coach Henry Elder says the increasing number of participants is a good sign for the sport in Fiji.

Elder says they will continue with their selection as the trial progresses.

“We have three lifters who have already qualified. There are quite a few of them who are close to qualification and we believe most of these athletes will qualify by the second last or the final trial.”

The next trial is expected to be held at the end of next month.
