Nadroga vice-captain, Setefano Somoca says his side was lucky to escape with a win over Nadi yesterday in the first HFC Farebrother Trophy Challenge at Lawaqa Park.

The Stallions raced to an early 23-5 lead at halftime before Nadi mounted a spirited comeback in the second spell to level the scores at 23-all in the dying stages of the match.

A penalty kick from Nadroga fullback, Apisalome Waqatabu broke the deadlock and ensured the Stallions’ win by 26-23.

Somoca says the team will need to play 80-minutes rugby to avoid second half performance in the second challenge match against Vatukoula next weekend.

“Nadi is a champion team too but I must thank the boys for holding on in the second half. We didn’t play better in the second half. We have to go back now and regroup again before we meet Vatukoula next week.”

Nadroga will take on Vatukoula in the second HFC Farebrother Trophy Challenge next Saturday.
