National Beach Volleyball Coach Apenisa Saukuru has welcomed the Fiji Volleyball Federation’s decision to postpone the 2019 Continental Cup.

The Federation in consultation with all relevant stakeholders had decided to postpone the tournament due to the measles outbreak in the country.

Saukuru says this means the team will have more time to prepare.

“At first, I was really down but at the same time its a blessing in disguise, because we just have a short time of preparation and now that it has been postponed, we have more time to train and practice with the team as well.”

Yesterday, the Fiji Volleyball Federation President Liga Gukisuva confirmed it was in the best interest for everyone involved to have the tournament moved to a later date despite all arrangements being made.

Gukisuva met with all key stakeholders to inform them directly of the current situation.

The tournament is expected to be held sometime next year.
