Weightlifting Fijis gold medal prospect Apolonia Vaivai, says she will be using the Australian International Open this weekend as the testing ground before April’s Commonwealth Games.
Vaivai says she is looking forward to giving her best in the competition this weekend.
“I’m looking forward to do more than last year. I lifted 227kg last year and I’m looking forward to lift 230 this year and I want a solid lift compared to last year.”
The 27-year-old from Lomaiviti has spent two weeks of training in New Caledonia with her team mates and departs tomorrow to compete in the women’s 75kg in Brisbane.
Vaivai won a bronze medal in the last Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014.
