Treat each game as a final: Ryan

April 27, 2015 4:51 am

Vodafone Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan has stressed to his players to treat their remaining games in the World Sevens Series as a Cup final.

As the team wraps up preparations for the final two tournaments in Glasgow and London, Ryan says it’s important that the players not lose focus of their target to win the series and automatically qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

“Although we are only a few points behind South Africa, and New Zealand are just a few points behind us. They (New Zealand and South Africa) play each other in the group and we could easily play either team in the Cup quarterfinal. So that game in Glasgow is huge because whoever loses that is out of the race and then it’s down to two (teams). So for us, we need to treat Glasgow as six Cup finals.”
