Tongan referee to officiate Iceland and Nigeria game

Tongan referee Tevita Makasini will officiate a FIFA World Cup game between Iceland and Nigeria on Sunday.

Matangi Tonga reports, Makasini will work as an assistant referee in the match, providing support to New Zealand referee Matthew Conger.

Makasini possesses World Cup experience, having officiated one game at the 2010 Football World Cup in South Africa.

He has officiated games at the 2016 Rio Olympics, 2008 Beijing Olympics, FIFA 2017 U20 World Cup in New Zealand.

In the matches tomorrow, Brazil takes on Costa Rica at 12am, Nigeria plays Iceland at 3am and Serbia faces Switzerland at 6am.
