Three sports have been confirmed to represent Fiji in the upcoming Youth Olympics.
These are athletics, badminton and table tennis.
Chef De Mission, Tomasi Tiko says with Weightlifting Fiji pulling out of the Oceania Championships they also are out on default and have lost their place in this year’s games.
“We have swimming that is going through their qualification process as well in New Zealand and we hope to get word back after that if any of the athletes who had qualified. We had a boxer as well who was hoping to get qualified but he missed out of the qualifications and the only other sports as well that we still have our fingers crossed for is rugby.”
Team Fiji will depart on the first week of October and will be amongst the 100 countries that will be competing in 31 sports.
