Suva to play Nadroga in the skipper final

The Suva rugby side will now meet Nadroga in the Skipper Cup final next week.

This was after Suva defeated Namosi 26-20 in their Skipper Cup semi-final clash this afternoon at Suva’s ANZ Stadium.

Levani Kurumudu scored Suva’s opening try while Sakiusa Nadruku then replied with a score for Namosi the level their score 7-all.

Sakiusa Maiono scored another try for Namosi to extend their lead 12-10 at half time.

Fiji Warriors captain, Mosese Voka then added another score for Namosi in the second spell to take them further 17-13.

Sakiusa Nadruku of Namosi was given a yellow card.

Half-back, Peni Matawalu of Suva then scored a double to seal their victory 26-20 over Namosi.

Suva Captain, Peni Raidre says they were reminded that they cannot afford to lose the match after they were trailed 12-10 at half time.

“We were told that its now never that we cannot wait for next year so If its the last 40 minutes of our lives we have to give it all.”

Meanwhile, Nadroga hammered Naitasiri 52-19 in the second semi-final at Sigatoka’s Lawaqa Park.

The Stallions scored four tires in the first half to put them into lead 24-14 at half time.

They ran in another four tries in the second spell to seal their victory while Naitasiri scored three.

Suva’s tries came from Sakiusa Gavidi, Mitieli Nacagilevu, Sakiusa Gavidi, Ifereimi Tovilevu, Josese Kurukava, Aporosa Tabulawaki, Timoci Sauvoli and Vasikali Mudu.

The Highlanders tries were scored by Sakeo Railoa, Vatiliai Matakaca and Livai Ikanikoda.

Meanwhile, in the Vodafone Vanua Challenge, Northland beat Yasawa 29-19 while Tailevu defeated Lautoka 21-20.

Tailevu will play Northland in the final.

In the under 20 division, Serua beat Ovalau 18-17 while Nasinu hammered Yasawa 36-20.

Serua will now meet Nasinu in the final.

In the women’s division, Malolo defeated Namosi 30-27 while Suva hammered Nadi 59-14.

Malolo will face Suva in the women’s skipper cup final.
