The Ministry of Youth and Sports is currently conducting public and stakeholder consultation for a Safety in Sports Participation Policy to safeguard the welfare of sports people.

Minister of Youth and Sports Parveen Kumar says they are also concerned with the future of players.

“People also want to know about life after sports. This is another aspect that we are working on and as I’ve said, it only has to be Fiji First who comes up with this type of policy and legislation, and this is exactly what we’re going to do.”

The ministry is working with the Fiji National Sports Commission and other sporting federations in legislating the National Sports and physical activity policy, anti-doping and drug policy and child protection policy.
