Fiji defeated the USA 28-7 in the fifth-place final.

Captain Jerry Tuwai says it was not their day after the result against England in the cup quarterfinal did not go their way.

“First of all I want to thank the god for everything for the opportunity for us to play here in Paris with my brothers. It didn’t go our way but we are really thankful for what we have achieved.”

Fiji earlier lost to England 19-17 in the quarterfinals then defeated Ireland in the fifth place semi-final by 38-5.

The team now moves its focus on preparing for the World Cup in San Francisco in the USA next month.
