Sisters upset Flames

Bula FM Marist Volleyball women’s defending champions, Flames lost to Heartland Sisters 2-1 in the opening round at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva today.

Former national rep, Claire Delai, who led the Flames to victory last year, features for Heartland this year.

In the men’s division, top teams cruised through the first round in with last year’s losing finalist, Rebels defeating USP 2-0 while Marist was taken to the wire against Army but eventually winning 2-1.

In other results, Senibua Knights beat Crossroads 2-0, Chips beat Velau Spiders 2-1, Drifters defeated Neighbors Lautoka 2-1 and Marist Saints proved too strong for Sakura winning 2-0.

The finals will be held tomorrow afternoon.
