Japan will have a lot of confidence: Baber

Japan will have a lot of confidence when they face Fiji in their opening Dubai 7s pool match on Friday.

Fiji 7s coach Gareth Baber says this is not because of Japan’s dream run at the recent Rugby World Cup.

But Baber says it’s based on the fact of Japan’s preparations in the past few months.

Japan met Fiji twice at Oceania 7s last month in Suva and they would have done their analysis according to Baber.

‘They’ve been here recently we’ve played against a couple teams in training and also in Oceania they are a great outfit they work hard they’ve got good coaches they resource the program well they willing to spend money brought 25 players to Fiji for two weeks to experience life here in Fiji playing 7s playing in the Oceania tournament so they are very serious with what they do we are under no illusions that they would be wanting to win so we got to make sure we come up with what we need’.

Fiji will play Japan at 4:02am on Friday before meeting Argentina at 10:04pm also on Friday.

The final pool match will be against France at 4:02am on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Fijiana 7s will also feature in the second leg of the Women’s series in Dubai with their first match at 12:12am on Friday against Australia
