Black Ferns sevens create history at Dubai 7s

The New Zealand Women’s sevens team has created history after they won they became the first team to win a back to back Dubai 7s title.

This is a first for the tournament as the Black Ferns Sevens become the first team to successfully defend the Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens title after coming from behind to beat Canada.

They beat Canada 26-14.

This victory, backs up their 26-14 defeat of the same opponents in the 2018 title decider.

The win has also taken the defending champions to the top of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series 2020 standings, albeit only on points difference from Glendale winners USA.

Fijiana 7s on the other hand gave their all to defeat the Black Ferns in the quarterfinal but missed out as they lost by 24-10.

Tokasa Seniyasi and Ana Maria Naimasi crossed the try line for Fiji.

New Zealand lead 12-5 at the halftime mark.
