Semi-final battle heats up at IDC

October 11, 2017 12:29 am

The second day of the Courts Inter District Championship is underway at the Churchill Park in Lautoka, with premier teams to start their battle in the next hour.

With Lautoka, Ba and Rewa recording wins yesterday, victory on day two will put the three districts on track for a place in the semi-finals to be played on Saturday.

Lautoka, backed by its home fans, will be favorites when it takes on Tavua, but coach Kamal Swamy says his side still has to improve in certain areas.

“There are a lot of discipline problems, we have to iron out on those things and the niggling injuries. But I think we have capable players on the bench.”

The feature match of the day sees Ba battling Rewa.

Ba mentor Roneel Kumar, says the traditional champions will have to gear up for a tough match against the Delta Tigers.

“They are a good team, so we will go back and work on a structure as to how we will play against Rewa.”

Labasa and Dreketi will both be out for a win, after suffering heavy defeats yesterday as a loss for either should see them eliminated.

Suva and Nadi also need a win to stay on track.

In matches today, Labasa plays Dreketi at 2pm, Suva battles Nadi at 4pm, Tavua takes on Lautoka at 6pm while Rewa faces Ba at 8pm.
