RFMF Commander Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto has been appointed as the new Fiji National Rugby League Chairman while Napolioni Batimala is the new Deputy Chairman.

Naupoto says he was motivated to take up the position after seeing the progress and success of the Army Bears rugby league side.

After being mostly involved with rugby union in Fiji, Naupoto adds that Rugby League also provides a good opportunity for Fijians.

To me at this stage, to be honest, it’s a learning curve for me from the people who have been in the league a longer time than myself. Really have backing on their experience and hopefully, I can contribute in the strategic management and planning for Rugby League into the future.

Naupoto says the new board will be working to take the sport to greater heights.

The FNRL Chairman’s position has been vacant since the passing of the late Peni Musunamasi 7 months ago.

Meanwhile, the FNRL also appointed five new board members.

The new board members are Pastor Ilaitia Tagituimua, Aporosa Lutunauga, Tevita Korosaya, Taniela Vakamoce and Napolioni Batimala.
