RFMF cricket team off to Australia next month

The Republic of Fiji Military Forces cricket side is looking to emulate the success of its rugby side when it competes in the Inter Defence Force Competition in Australia next month.

Earlier today, RFMF won the International Rugby Defence Competition title in England, defeating British Army 30-10 in the final.

RFMF cricket manager, Akuila Nawai says the side faces a daunting task as they will encounter strong teams such as Australia, New Zealand, India and Pakistan.

“These guys play cricket all the time. They are very good players and play in the World Cup. We haven’t seen them play but what we know is that they will give us a hard time. There might even be some international players in the team.”

The RFMF cricket side will depart for Australia on November 13th with the Inter Defence tournament to begin two days later.
