Police-Spain final

Police will face Spain in the final of the #StrongerthanWinston Rugby 7s Fundraising Appeal tournament this afternoon at Uprising Beach Resort in Deuba.

The lawmen edged Army Nadroga 7-0 in the semi-final while Spain beat tournament favourites Wardens15-14.

Tournament organizer, James Pridgeon says the Spanish side has pledged that should it win, it will donate the $2000 prize-money to the cyclone Winston relief efforts.

In the plate semi-finals, Army beat Yamacia 17-7 while Red Rock upset Tabadamu 10-0.

In the bowl semi-finals, hosts, Uprising defeated Hillview 25-5 while Hideaway Hurricanes beat Samurai Barracudas 17-0.

The finals are now underway.

12 teams are competing in the tournament and Pridgeon says money raised from donations from the spectators will go towards the Prime Minister’s National Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Fund to assist people affected by Tropical Cyclone Winston.
