Members of the First Light Taveuni 7s rugby team have been praised for their brave actions which led to the arrest of two men alleged to have robbed a taxi driver yesterday morning.
Police say the incident occurred at Wailoaloa Beach in Nadi when a taxi driver in his 50’s was allegedly assaulted and robbed by two men who later fled the scene.
Another taxi driver who saw the alleged incident alerted members of the 7s team who were training nearby and then pursued the two where they managed to apprehend the duo who are both in their twenties.
The two remained in custody as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, the Divisional Commander West SSP Abdul Khan and senior officers visited the team at their camp and conveyed the team’s gratitude of their actions.
