OFC excited about U19 championships

The Oceania Football Confederation is excited with the facilities at the ANZ Stadium in Suva, which will play host to the Under-19 Championships from Friday.

The competition will feature Fiji, Vanuatu, the Solomon Islands, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea and American Samoa.

The winner will qualify for the 2015 Under-20 World Cup in New Zealand.

OFGC Head of Television and Radio, Tukaha Mua, says the competition at the venue should be nothing short of world class.

“It’s going to very very exciting. As you know New Zealand as hosts are already in and the island teams are here with everything to play for. With what we have gotten back in terms of preparation in terms of squad that have been declared the standard of play should be very high and, we are ready and the venue looks beautiful. We are ready for five match days of brilliant entertainment.”

The championships start at 2.30pm on Friday with Fiji taking on American Samoa.

Vanuatu meets New Caledonia at 5pm, before the Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea clash at 7.30pm.
