NZ crowned FANCA champs

The New Zealand Muslim football team crowned the champion of the Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and America (FANCA) Muslim football tournament last night.

The visitors beat Fiji 1-nil at Lautoka’s Churchill Park.

The lone goal of the match was scored by James Hoyt who is the son of former Fiji rep Mudu Hoyt.

In the Over- 35 final, New Zealand thumped Fiji 4-1 to win the title.

Meanwhile, the Tavua Football side made another upset in its Vodafone Premier League campaign after beating Fiji FACT champion Rewa 2-1 at Nausori’s Ratu Cakobau Park yesterday.

The Delta Tigers’ lone goal was scored by veteran midfielder Taione Kerevanua in the 30th minute of play.
