Athletics Fiji has drafted 540 athletes for next year’s Pacific Games in Samoa.

Fiji Chef de Mission Patrick Bower says the number is expected to decrease once all participating sporting federations have done their final trials.

Bower says they are ensuring all athletes to put in their best and be recognized at the games.

It is about winning gold or maintaining or doing it in your best shot and not winning medal or just getting into the game and of course getting into the game is not the best attitude. We are going to make sure that we prepare well and we go and perform to the best of our ability.

The games will run through the 7th to the 20th of July next year in Apia.
