National athletes to intensify competition at Coke Games

April 8, 2015 6:17 pm

The presence of national athletics reps in this year’s Coca Cola Games will provide much stiffer competition than ever before.

These athletes are in line to represent the country at the Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea in July.

Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Association Secretary, Vuli Waqa, says these athletes will bolster their respective schools during the two-day meet.

“In fact the majority of the athletes going to the Pacific Games are students and they will be competing in this year’s Coke Games. It’s going to be very competitive because some of those that had not qualified (Pacific Games) will be hoping to beat those that qualified to be considered by the national selectors.”

Some national reps that will be competing in the Coke Games are Gospel High School’s Younis Bese and Aaron Powell, Marist Brothers High School Apolosi Ratumudu and Saint Joseph’s Secondary Schools Heleina Young.

Meanwhile, two new schools will participate for the first time during the April 24-25 event.

They are Ratu Lalabalabu Memorial School and Nadi Christian Community School from Nadi.
