Naholo makes family proud

Two hours before Fijian born Highlanders winger Waisake Naholo lifted the Super Rugby title, he called his dad just to let him know that he is going to play the game which opens another chapter in his rugby career.

Speaking to FBC Sports Naholo’s father, Aporosa Naholo says he was in tears when he spoke to his son prior to the final and his advice was for Naholo to think about all he went through to achieve his dream.

“Aporosa says they had to run a power cord outside the house so that they can set up their TV to cater for the whole villagers who turned up to cheer for Waisake Naholo and the Highlanders.”

He says the village elders of Nadroumai village in Nadroga shed tears as they witnessed Naholo score a try and lift Highlanders first ever Super Rugby title.

Meanwhile, Waisake Naholo scored a try as the Highlanders beat the Hurricanes 21 – 14 to win the Super Rugby title.
