More upgrades planned for FSC

The official commencement of the National Stadium upgrade took place today with Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama laying the first bit of concrete.

With the roof already ripped off and tracks removed, the 30-year-old sports facility’s facelift is promised to be completed next April.

Bainimarama also confirmed the additional facelift for outside grounds.

“When complete the Buckhurst and Bidesi Park will include three training grounds, all new changing rooms and showers, a small stadium and a 100m artificial trainign track, we all know how important sport is to Fijians therefore it is only fitting to provide them with the best.”

The Fiji Sports Council successfully secured a commercial loan of $15 million from ANZ guaranteed with a grant of $3 million for the next five years.

The upgrade by construction company, JS Hill & Associates and Team Sports of Australia will see state of the art tracks, an IRB and FIFA approved standardised ground with additional seating.
