25-year-old Melaia Matanatabu is doing all she can to make the final cut in the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s side for the 2018/19 World Women’s 7s Series.
Matanatabu started playing for the Nausori Youth Club and then joined the Rewa rugby women’s team and played in the Skipper Cup this year and she also joined the Fijiana 15s side to play in Australia last year.
Matanatabu says she finds it tough competing with other 25 players as she trying to impress the selectors.
“There’s a lot of competition among the players and really finding it tough. Our coach has been helping us a lot especially the new game plan he has in-stored. I’ve been doing all the hard yards to ensure that the selectors will be impressed by my performance.”
The opening round of the women’s 7s series will be held in Glendale, USA on the 20th to the 21st of next month.
