Lutumailagi vows to restore lost glory

April 10, 2012 7:01 pm

Fiji 7s speedster, Joeli Lutumailagi has vowed to bring Fiji back to glory by winning the 2011/12 IRB World Sevens Series title.

The Glasgow and London 7s in May are the only tournaments left this season and with Fiji, six points behind defending champions New Zealand, Lutumailagi wants nothing more.

The Nadroga player was lastnight treated to a traditional welcoming ceremony by the Oneata cricket team and family members from his mother’s side in Suva.

He mentioned while, winning in Hong Kong was dedicated to injured team mate Mitileli Nacagilevu, wins in Scotland and London would this time, be for his family.

In an overwhelmed state at the home of former Fiji Bati, Jarryd Hayne’s grandparents, Lutumailagi told FBC Sports he was more determined than ever.
Training for the national side resumes next week.

Fiji must ensure they reach the cup finals to secure maximum points – their first pool match in Scotland is against Zimbabwe followed by Portugal then Argentina.
