Ludeke eager for Flying Fijians match

July 9, 2015 4:37 am

Former Bulls Super Rugby coach, Frans Ludeke is eager to see what the Vodafone Flying Fijians have to offer in the clash against the Maori All Blacks this weekend.

The soft-spoken mentor has been roped in to assist national coach John McKee for the build-up towards the Rugby World Cup in September and says he has been impressed by the team’s performance over the past season.

“The positives for me are how they have improved in the scrum and the lineout; it comes down to the great job that Matt Cockbain has done while he was here so I would like to bolt on that. We know we haven’t got a team if the tight five is not operating and it starts in the set pieces. You need quality ball and a quality platform to attack from because we have got lovely backs who know what to do with the ball in space.”

Ludeke resigned from the Bulls at the end of this year’s Super Rugby season to join the Flying Fijians camp.

The national side will host the Maori All Blacks at 3pm on Saturday at the ANZ Stadium in Suva and a live commentary will air on Bula FM with the voice of rugby, Graham Eden.
