Jacobs claims IBF belt via split decision

October 28, 2018 4:00 am

Daniel Jacobs got the nod against unbeaten opponent in a highly competitive middleweight title fight this afternoon.

Jacobs beat rugged former sparring partner Sergiy Derevyanchenko by split decision in their 12-round, 160-pound championship match.

Jacobs says he gave his all to secure the win over an experienced opponent.

“I really feel like I’m in my prime and if I give in my all in training I know it would have showed up tonight. I mean he worked the body tremendously, he was able to guess me at time but I showed I was in good form.”

Jacobs won the vacant IBF middleweight title that previously belonged to Gennady Golovkin.
