Gold Trip has won the 2022 Melbourne Cup at Flemington earlier this afternoon.

In an epic conclusion to ‘the race that stops the nation’, Gold Trip carried 57.5kg to defeat a fast-finishing Emissary who finished second.

High Emocean made up plenty of ground late to finish third.

Race favourite Deauville Legend finished fourth.

Gold Trip is trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace and was ridden by Mark Zahra.
