The Fijian government has allocated a total budget of $1.8 million to FASANOC to prepare Team Fiji for the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast Australia.

Fiji Sports Commission Chief Executive Peter Mazey says they have split the grant of $1.8 million to ensure it is used accordingly.

“We had given the preparation grant of $1.1 million to the twelve sports that will be attending the Commonwealth Games. An additional sum of $670 thousand has been spared for the sports’ participation at the Games.”

He says the grant will also cover the preparation of our Fiji Airways men’s team to the World Cup 7s in San Francisco.

“Now that majority of the sports have received the grant, part of their preparation money for the commonwealth games in rugby in particular was the preparation for the Rugby World Cup as well so they already got their funding."

The Commonwealth Games will be held from the 4th to the 15th of April.
