Fijian government to await FRU's proposal on national celebration-Kumar

The Fijian government will now wait for the Fiji Rugby Union to propose a national celebration and a bonus payout for the Fiji Airways players.

This is after they made history in Happy Valley as the first team to win the Hong Kong title five-years in a row.

Minister for Youth and Sports Parveen Kumar our 7s gladiators made all Fijians proud and they deserve to be recognized.

“For Fiji Rugby Union to come up with and I’ll leave that to the Fiji Rugby Union. Our hearty congratulations to the Fiji 7s team led by their magical captain and coach Gareth Baber and it was a night of records.”

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama also showed his gratitude on Fiji’s performance in Hong Kong and wishes them well in the next 7s tournament.

“I think they did Fiji proud in the last couple of days in the game in Hong Kong and I know they are going to play in Singapore this weekend and we wish them all the best.”

Meanwhile, the FRU has not yet made any comment about a national celebration for the team.
