FRU hopes Drua will stay in NRC: O'Connor

The Fiji Rugby Union hopes the Fiji Airways Drua will be offered extension to stay for longer in Australia’s National Rugby Championship after next season.

FRU’s agreement with ARU comes to end next year.

FRU Chief Executive, John O’Connor says the Drua should continue to perform to its level best in the championship next year.

I think if the boys continue to perform, hopefully the Australian Rugby Union will continue to extend our contracts with them. We doing our best we can and the boys are performing on the field and we will see what happens after next years’ competition.

Meanwhile, eight of the Drua players are part of the Fiji Airways Flying Fijians squad preparing for November test matches.

Fiji begins its European tour against Scotland next Sunday.

Meanwhile England faces South Africa at 4am on Sunday while in another international test match Wales plays Scotland at 3.45am.
