Fitzgibbons crowned Fiji Women's Pro champ

Australian Sally Fitzgibbons was today crowned the first Fiji Women’s Pro champ at Cloudbreak in Tavarua.

She defeated fellow Aussie Stephanie Gilmore by point 37 points in what was a pulsating final right down to the last second.

Fitzgibbons earlier upset top favourite Hawaii’s Malia Manuel in the semi-final when she locked in one of the best barrels of the day to record 9.07 points from the judges.

Manuel goes home as one of the Fiji Women’s Pro top performers and an equal third place finish.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Men’s Pro event will be held next week featuring Fiji wildcard Isei Tokovou.

Defending men’s champion Kelly Slater of the United States will also be competing.
